Our Story
Why Beyond Separation exists
I’ve been through separation. More than once.
I know the 2am spiral. The fear of making the wrong move. The pressure around money, children, housing and what comes next.
I didn’t set out to become the “separation guy”.
Over the years, almost by accident, I became the person friends and colleagues called when their relationship broke down.
Not because I had all the answers.
I didn’t.
They just needed someone to help them slow down, think clearly, and work out what mattered next.
Beyond Separation began as the structured version of those conversations.
It began with what I wish I’d had so you don’t waste time, money or emotional energy trying to figure it all out alone.
Because separation can shake almost every part of your life at once: your children, your home, your finances, your confidence, your identity, and the future you thought you were building.
And when you are in the middle of it, it is very easy to make decisions from fear, anger, guilt, pride or panic.
I know, because I’ve made some of those mistakes myself.
That is the real reason I built Beyond Separation. It exists because a separation asks you to make the biggest decisions of your life at the worst possible time and I knew I could help.
Where Beyond Separation helps
Most people don’t enter separation feeling calm, organised or clear.
They enter it tired. Scared. Angry. Confused. Often ashamed. Sometimes still hoping things might turn around.
I remember that feeling.
You’re trying to make sense of money, children, the house, messages, legal advice, family opinions and your own emotions….all at the same time.
And the hardest part is that the decisions you make early can have a long tail.
Moving out. What you write in a message. What you agree to. What you ignore. Who you listen to. When you get proper advice.
These things matter.
That’s why I built Beyond Separation.
Not to replace lawyers, financial advisers, counsellors or mediators.
But to help you slow things down enough to think clearly before you walk into those conversations.
Over time, I noticed people were usually trying to work through the same few things.
Stabilise - reduce the chaos and protect your wellbeing
Orient - understand the pathway ahead
Decide - make calmer, better-informed choices
Rebuild - design what comes next
That’s really what Beyond Separation is here for.
Not to tell you what to do.
To help you get clear enough to make better decisions, your future self can live with.
A quick note on what this is, and isn’t
This isn’t legal, financial or counselling advice, and it’s not trying to be.
Good professionals matter. Lawyers, Mediators, Financial Advisers, Mortgage Brokers and Counsellors all have an important role to play.
My hope is that Beyond Separation helps you walk into those conversations calmer, clearer, and better prepared.
We work alongside those professionals, not instead of them. The goal is to get you to their door calmer, clearer and better prepared, so the advice you pay for actually lands.
